Here are some more combinations with better contrast that I like, too.
I like the bright blue on the darker gray background; I like the pink better, but the bright blue offers more contrast. Pink will still look good as another color on the page with these two, I suppose. What are you all thinking about your colors?

I like what you did here with the Colors on the Web tool.
And I like the blue-blue one best.
You shouldn't give up on the pink and green, even if they don't work for a text-and-background pair. You can use splashes of color to focus attention in graphics, borders, boxes, etc. Your web palette might easily include five or six different colors. Don't give up the dream! --ELC
I also like the blue with the gray background. It looks very serene, yet professional. I don't know,to me, walking seems to go well with serene colors.
I am digging the blue on gray. It is pleasant combination to look at, ethereal. Very very nice.
If you really want to add pink and green, I would consult a color wheel to see what colors are complementary contrasts (aka, directly opposite on the color wheel). You might find some more subdued, easy-on-the-eye options across the wheel, and they would lend themselves nicely to touches of pink and green when you put it all together.
Color blender service could be useful:

I tried to find what could match with pink.
Type in 225 for Red, 134 for Green and 231 for Blue.
Since I can not attach the image, I made a screenshot and put it in my folder in dunx:
